he parents, terrified during an impending Tsunami siren warning, handed their most precious baby to soldiers for safekeeping. It is difficult to imagine the utter heartbreak at having to undergo such terrible separation from the center of their hearts, their universe, their reason for being… their beloved infant. I can only IMAGINE what the parents are going through…

The baby’s parents, who had sheltered for three days in their ruined home, panicked by what turned out to be a false tsunami alarm that sounded at 11am, handed the child wrapped in her pink jacket to the soldiers, who had gone door to door, pulling bodies from houses. Many of the victims were elderly, unable to escape the destructive black tide.
